It has also been Bach’s burial place since 1950, and you can find his ledger stone on the floor of the choir and see a statue in his honour outside in front.

Introduction. Leipzig has one of the longest histories of any German city. As a trade city, that history goes back to the Holy Roman Empire, when Leipzig sat at the intersection of two vital medieval trade routes: the Via Regia (east-west) and the Via Imperii (north-south).
