Died in Vienna on 3 June 1411. The life of Duke Leopold IV was marked by the numerous family conflicts that arose in the line of his father, Duke Leopold III, around 1400. In 1395 he had been promised the western Habsburg dominions, but these agreements were later altered several times.
Leopold (German: Luitpold, c. 1108 – 18 October 1141), known as Leopold the Generous (German: Luitpold der Freigiebige), was margrave of Austria (appearing in lists as Leopold IV) from 1136, and duke of Bavaria from 1139 until his death in 1141.
