The Library of Michigan is the state library of the U.S. state of Michigan, located in the state capital, Lansing. Its purpose is to collect and preserve Michigan publications, conduct reference and research, and support libraries statewide. Born in 1828, the Library of Michigan celebrates 175 years of vision and dedicated service to the people of Michigan, from its frontier beginnings to the innovations of the 21st Century.
Every year, the Library of Michigan selects up to twenty of the most notable books, either written by a Michigan resident or about Michigan or the Great Lakes. The selected books are honored in the year after their publication or copyright date.
