Light of the Stable is the first Christmas album by Emmylou Harris. It was originally released in 1979 by Warner Bros. Records but has since gone through several intervening releases. The 1992 Warner release was a remastered version of the original with a different album cover.

Her stunning a cappella version of “The First Noel” echoes long after it finishes, while “Christmas Time’s A-Coming” is a gentle country canter with sweetly cooing harmonies. Speaking of harmonies, you can hear guests Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, and Neil Young on some tracks, including the heavenly hallelujahs of the title track.
