The Lincoln Homestead State park is actully 10 miles west of Decatur Illinois. Not in Springfield. A plaque tells the story of the Winter of the Deep Snow (1830-31) when Abraham Lincoln walked 2 miles with frozen feet to my 5 times great grandfather's home, William Warnick. I've heard the stories and now I've seen the location.
