Back home after two years of military service, Andy Hardy (Mickey Rooney) anticipates returning to college and his girlfriend, Kay (Bonita Granville). Andy's subsequent erratic behavior convinces his alarmed parents, James (Lewis Stone) and Emily (Fay Holden), that they must interfere, but Andy expresses his determination to propose to Kay.
