Luis Estévez (1930-2014) was born in Cuba. After a brief job at Lord & Taylor, he decided to make fashion his career. He attended the Traphagen School of Fashion, then went to Paris to work for Patou for two years. In 1955 he began designing under his own name at Grenelle-Estévez, a venture that lasted until 1968.
