Madagascar is a 2005 animated comedy film and the first film in the series. Directed by Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath, the film tells the story of four Central Park Zoo animals: Alex the lion ( Ben Stiller ), Marty the zebra ( Chris Rock ), Melman the giraffe ( David Schwimmer) and Gloria the hippo ( Jada Pinkett Smith ).
