Margarethe von Trotta (German: [maʁɡaˈʁeːtə fɔn ˈtʁɔta] ⓘ) (born 21 February 1942, Berlin, Germany) is a German film director, screenwriter, and actress. She has been referred to as a "leading force" of the New German Cinema movement.
