I don't necessarily mean plot wise, more in spirit, the books always gave you all the pieces to try to work out what happened yourself, which is like, half the fun for a lot of people, the show didn't, it was just Sherlock telling you a load of stuff that we didn't get to see when he does the reveal thing, just all around poor writing.
