Recorded at NBC Studios 3 and 2 in Burbank, California from October 1983 to July 1984.

1.↑ Both hosts used microphones with windscreens, compared to in the series. The Match Game portion had three contestants competing instead of two. Presumably, contestants entered from the three steps that are placed in front of the giant wall on the center stage. The nameplates for the panelists were gray instead of red. The backdrop was completely blue, lacking the magenta. The set for the Hollywood Squares had way more blue than in the series, lacking yellow and red. The Head-to-Head Match was played differently: The player would choose a celebrity and either X or O. One tab revealed the celebrity, while the other revealed a dollar amount. Finding the dollar amount added to the pot, and allowed the player to keep choosing celebrities and tabs. Finding the name would result in the contestant playing the round with the celebrity. If the board was cleared, the contestant would play the round with the last celebrity he or she picked for up to $100,000.

2.↑ Premiere week. The show began its 9-month run at 3:00 p.m. EST, replacing the Merrill Heatter Production Fantasy, which was hosted by Peter Marshall, the original M.C. of The Hollywood Squares, and came on after the NBC Soap Another World. Since this was the premiere week, the returning champion in the Hollywood Squares portion was determined by drawing lots backstage, and Stacy Turner was chosen. Super Match wins: $500 (Jimmie) on Monday, $1,000 (Bill) on Tuesday, $250 (Jon) on Wednesday, $500 (Bill) on Thursday and $1,000 (Twyla) on Friday. Head-to-Head Match wins: None on Monday, $10,000 (Alison) on Tuesday, $5,000 (Alison) on Wednesday, $10,000 (Tom) on Thursday and $20,000 (Bill) on Friday.

3.↑ Square patterns now added on back side of answer cards for Match Game. Jon Bauman and Gene Rayburn are now introduced by Gene Wood for Hollywood Squares and Super Match respectively, with new camera angles accompanying these. Bauman now introduces the three new celebrities on the top row in the Squares portion. Halfway through this week, music now stops at the beginning of the Squares portion. Also halfway through this week, the edges on Bauman's podium in Squares are now yellow. Super Match wins: $250 (Bonnie) on Monday, $1,000 (Shannon) on Tuesday, $1,000 (Ed) on Wednesday, $1,000 (Jon) on Thursday and strikeout on Friday. 5.↑ New bell sound to indicate that time is up. Preempted on November 24, 1983 for a Football game with the Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. the Detroit Lions. About halfway through, the green Round 2 toaster has been changed to red. Bill Carroll retired undefeated after five games on Friday with $26,825, so a new "returning champion" had to be selected.
