Nice conservatory with three separate houses for tropical, temperate and arid plants. A variety of gardens to explore including bonsai, perennials and great lakes gardens including dunes and prairies. Nature trails for nice hikes/walks and these are open until sunset. Conservatory and gardens close around four.
Leaflet. Our 350 acres include four nature trails, mature woodlands, wetlands, ponds and a tall grass prairie. We have specialty gardens that feature a native Michigan woodland wildflower garden, a shade garden and a perennial and rose garden.
Matthaei Botanical Gardens is a 350-acre site that offers an indoor plant conservatory, classroom and meeting spaces, greenhouse, and outdoor sites for research, display gardens, native plant gardens, natural areas, and ongoing ecological restoration.

The gardens are dedicated to environmental stewardship and increasing understanding of the natural world. While it is mostly an educational area, there are plenty of great sights to enjoy.
