  2. Merton is the only college in Oxford to hold a triennial winter ball, instead of the more common Commemoration ball. The most recent of these was held on 26 November 2022. Societies A Graduate of Merton College ca. 1754/55 attributed to George Knapton. Merton has a number of drinking and dining societies, along the lines of other colleges.
