Open to the public in 1987 and meticulously restored, the Meyer May house offers a rare opportunity to experience an original Prairie house as Wright envisioned it. After months of interviews and intensive study of reference materials, work began to restore the interior and exterior to its original design. The restoration took two years.

Jan 15, 2024 · The Meyer May House is located in the Heritage Hill neighborhood in Grand Rapids. It was commissioned by Grand Rapids clothier Meyer S. May in 1908 and completed in 1909. In 1985, the home was purchased by Steelcase Inc. It was then carefully restored and opened to the public in 1987.
You'll find the Meyer May House about a mile southeast of downtown Grand Rapids. The house is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Touring the property is free.
