Mar 4, 2023 · Michael Rhodes, the bass player for numerous artists, sessions, and tours over a nearly 50-year span, died on March 4th at the age of 69. He played on some 60 Gold and Platinum albums, and won six ACM Awards. He was part of the country music supergroup The Notorious Cherry Bombs, The Cicadas, The Highwaymen, and other local Nashville bands.

Michael Rhodes, an esteemed bassist who has played alongside some of the world’s most successful artists, has sadly passed away aged 69. A representative for Rhodes confirmed his death to Billboard, and shared that he passed away at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, Saturday morning (4 March). No cause of death was given.
