Midhurst (/ ˈ m ɪ d h u r s t /) is a market town, parish and civil parish in West Sussex, England.It lies on the River Rother 20 miles (32 km) inland from the English Channel, and 12 miles (19 km) north of the county town of Chichester.

Midhurst is steeped in history, nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park, just 12 miles from Chichester. Coupled with several good hotels, an abundance of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants – more, in fact, than any other Sussex town – it’s easy to see why this magnificent market town draws such a rating.
Woolbeding Gardens. Less than 2 miles northwest of Midhurst are Woolbeding Gardens (owned by the National Trust), comprising of a total of 1102 acres, of which 26 acres are devoted to the gardens. The gardens consist of two distinct sections: an area of formal garden rooms and a less formal Pleasure Ground.
Cowdray House is the most well-known of Midhurst’s landmarks. Henry VIII came here at least three times, so knew the area and house very well. Some years later, Guy Fawkes was employed here as a footman. The house was destroyed by fire in 1793, but the ruins still attract visitors. The Old Town Hall in Market Square.
