- Brett. 2 contributions. Great Job Mineola! Unfortunately, I only just visited this preserve for the first time just recently. It was a great surprise! It was a beautiful park with grassland, trees, and river-bottom.

The event benefits the Mineola Fire Department and is held over three nights every 2nd weekend in July. The Mineola Fire Department Rodeo is serious business. A CPRA, LRCA, UPRA, and WPRA-sanctioned event, the rodeo includes bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, ranch bronc riding, breakaway roping, team roping, tie-down roping, and more.

Drop a line in a fishing hole or test your skills with a bow and arrow at the archery range. There’s even an 18-hole disc golf course with a playground for the kids.

The 2,911-acre Mineola Nature Preserve on the Sabine River is a protected area with both forests and wetlands. It features a multitude of regional flora and fauna, and many outdoor activities.
