This film tells the inspiring true story of Herb Brooks (Karl Malden) and the 1980 U.S. men's Olympic hockey team, who, against all odds, took home the gold medal after defeating the heavily favored Soviet team during the games in Lake Placid, New York. Brooks unites his team of hot-headed college all-stars (Andrew Stevens) after a humiliating early defeat against their common foe, the Soviets.
