After finding gold, an elderly miner is attacked by three thugs. He manages to kill two of the crooks before the third one murders him and flees. The local law enforcement is confounded by the case, so they enlist the sharpest sleuth in the West -- "Silver" Ward Hogan (Jock Mahoney) -- to find the surviving culprit and decipher the victim's cryptic will.
