The performances are extraordinary. Marvin has very seldom been better; he leaves in the toughness of his usual screen character, but he also reveals a lot of depth. He's often directed wastefully; directors want him for his presence and authority, but don't really seem to want a performance from him.
Times change, Monte Walsh doesn't. For him, being a cowboy isn't a job, it's a life. And that's something the, corporate-bean-counting ways which the 20th century must never alter. Rentals include 30 days to start watching this video and 48 hours to finish once started. Times change, Monte Walsh doesn't.
