Swarnalata (Shabana Azmi), a successful singer, survived the death of her young son, but just barely. After the boy is killed in a car crash, Swarnalata becomes a recluse and gives up on music. Years later when Abhinay (Prakash Rao), her son's old friend who now dreams of becoming a musician, shows up at her door with his girlfriend (Perizaad Zorabian) in tow, Swarnalata is compelled to help the young couple.
