The Motown Years (also known as The Motown Years 50) is a 3-disc compilation box set by American singer Michael Jackson and the group The Jackson 5, released on September 9, 2008, by Motown Records and Universal Music Group to celebrate Jackson's 50th birthday.

- “I Want You Back” (1969) Written by The Corporation: Berry Gordy, Freddie Perren, Alphonzo Mizell, and Deke Richards. The debut single from The Jackson 5 after being taken under the wing of Berry Gordy and Motown, “I Want You Back,” off their debut album, Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5, turned the five brothers into overnight sensations with a first No. 1 hit.
- “ABC” (1970) Written by The Corporation. If there was a group to knock The Beatles off the No. 1 perch, it was The Jackson 5. Released in 1970, “ABC,” the title track off the group’s second album, soared to the top of the charts, bumping the Fab Four classic “Let It Be” down a notch.
- “The Love You Save” (1970) Written by The Corporation. Also off ABC, and the group’s third consecutive No. 1, “The Love You Save” features side vocals from Jermaine, who sings with Michael on the final Stop!
- “I’ll Be There” (1970) Written by Berry Gordy, Bob West, Willie Hutch, Hal Davis. Considered the most successful single released by Motown during its “Detroit era”,” circa ” 1959–72 (and replacing Marvin Gaye‘s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”), “I’ll Be There” was the fourth No. 1 in a row for the Jackson 5.
The Jackson 5 released a succession of four albums in one year and replaced The Supremes as Motown's best-selling group. They continued their success with singles such as " Mama's Pearl ", " Never Can Say Goodbye ", and " Sugar Daddy ", giving them a total of seven top-ten singles within a two-year period.

The Jackson 5 recorded an astounding 17 singles that reached the R&B Top 10 during their six-and-a-half years with Motown Records. In 1968, Bobby Taylor discovered a group of five talented young brothers from Gary, Indiana and brought them to audition for Motown’s president Berry Gordy.

Looking at the cover, which shows Michael and none of his four brothers, one wouldn’t get the idea that this three-disc set is two-thirds Jackson 5 material. While Michael obviously features prominently in the Jackson 5 songs on The Motown Years, he gets one disc to himself.
