Nassau County (/ ˈ n æ s ɔː / NASS-aw) is a suburban county located immediately to the east of New York City.As of the 2020 United States census, Nassau County's population was 1,395,774, making it the sixth-most populous county in the State of New York, and reflecting an increase of 56,242 (+4.2%) from the 1,339,532 residents enumerated at the 2010 census.

Nassau County Nassau County is a suburban county located on Long Island, immediately to the east of New York City.As of the 2020 United States census, Nassau County's population was 1,395,774, making it the sixth-most populous county in the State of New York, and reflecting an increase of 56,242 from the 1,339,532 residents enumerated at the 2010 census.
Nassau County is the wealthiest county in New York. In 1947, William Levitt built his first planned community in Nassau County, in the Island Trees section (later renamed Levittown). While in the 1930s, Robert Moses had engineered curving parkways and parks such as Jones Beach State Park and Bethpage State Park for the enjoyment of city-dwellers.
Nassau County is in western Long Island, and is bordered by Suffolk County to the east and by the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens to the west. Until 1899, Nassau County was part of Queens County. The county seat is Mineola. Along with Suffolk, it was named the safest county in the United States in 2005 by Forbes.
