The National Gallery of Canada (French: Musée des beaux-arts du Canada), located in the capital city of Ottawa, Ontario, is Canada's national art museum. The museum's building takes up 46,621 square metres (501,820 sq ft), with 12,400 square metres (133,000 sq ft) of space used for exhibiting art.
Each year, hundreds of works from the national collection are presented in a wide range of installations and special exhibitions, some of which are showcased here.

Our History. When the National Gallery of Canada was established in 1880, its collection consisted of a single 19th-century landscape. More than 140 years later, the Gallery is home to more than 75,000 works of art, along with extensive library and archival holdings.
