The Nevins Memorial Library was constructed in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture made popular by H. H. Richardson. It cost $75,000. A feature article in the June 21, 1884 issue of American Architect & Building News described the new library:
The Nevins Library is a private, non-profit organization that partners with the City of Methuen to maintain a modern, full-service public library for residents and visitors. Currently, the Library has a staff of 30 full- and part-time employees, and is overseen by a seven-member Board of Trustees.
The Nevins Library has a collection of newspapers dating back to Methuen’s early 1800’s. The library is located at 305 Broadway in Methuen and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The Nevins Memorial Library offers resources including free Wi-Fi internet access , book clubs , an outreach program to deliver books and media for homebound individuals, and so on.
