    Nikolas Wallenda (born January 24, 1979) is an American acrobat, aerialist, daredevil, high wire artist, and author. He is known for his high-wire performances without a safety net. He holds 11 Guinness World Records for various acrobatic feats, and is best known as the first person to walk a tightrope stretched directly over Niagara Falls.

    • The wire is just one-inch thick in diameter and 1,800-feet long. The seventh generation wire walker from the famed "Flying Wallendas" has walked over the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and 25 stories above Times Square.
    • This is Wallenda's longest and highest walk attempt to date. "I have never until this morning walked on a cable of this diameter," Wallenda said the day before his stunt.
    • The lava lake inside the crater boils at over 2,000 degrees F. "For the last week I've been waking up in cold sweats because of this walk," Wallenda explained.
    • He will wear a protective mask and goggles to combat the plumes of toxic gas. "We're walking over a volcano with deadly poisonous gases -- it adds a layer of concern," he said.
