Nordsternpark (lit. North Star Park) is a park in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. It is located on the compound of former mine of Zeche Nordstern. After the closure of the mine in 1993 the area was redeveloped. In 1997, the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Garden Exhibition) took place here. [1]
The Nordsternpark has become a sought-after leisure and event location and a popular destination. It is a regular venue for major events such as the VIVAWEST marathon or the ExtraShift. Barrier-free, with no significant inclines and as large as 130 football pitches, the Nordsternpark is also an ideal area for cyclists.
