On March 15, 1947 Beulah Louise Overell and George Gollum watched shoreside as Beulah’s parents and their boat were blown to smithereens.

  5. By 1863, six years after B. F. Caldwell’s gift of four acres, the county raised enough money to build a two-story log cabin: Orange Countys first official courthouse, dedicated during the Civil War under the Confederate flag. Each story of the building contained only one room.
