The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, are the world’s largest private funder of independent groups working for justice, democratic governance, and human rights.
what we do. The Open Society Foundations give grants to a diverse array of groups and individuals in more than 100 countries who work in different ways to promote democratic principles, human rights, and justice.
We look for grantees who have a vision and whose efforts will lead to lasting social change. The vast majority of our grants are awarded to organizations that we approach directly, but we do list some open opportunities below. Other funding opportunities are available through Open Society’s network of national and regional foundations.
