Mar 25, 2024 · 22 Best Parkour Movies (Including French & Netflix Films) – 2023 Reviews. Parkour is a fascinating extreme sport, and it is entertaining to watch it on big screens. The addition of Parkour (aka Freerunning) makes the films thrilling and full of action.
- Casino Royale. While this movie only had a brief parkour scene at the beginning, it was in many ways the first time Hollywood audiences were introduced to parkour, by none other than Sebastien Foucan, who along with David Belle is widely credited with developing Parkour into what it is known for today.
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier. You would think the MCU films would have great use for incorporating parkour sequences between heroes and villains, but so far the only film in the series to make full use of freerunning is the second Captain America movie.
- Yamakasi. This film is widely known for being the first movie by a major director to focus on parkour. Luc Besson, of Fifth Element fame, made this movie about a group of parkour experts who use their skills to rob money from a board of directors to pay for the treatment of a young boy who suffered an injury while trying to imitate them.
- Freerunner. A freerunning athlete is forced to compete in a parkour tournament created by a group of bloodthirsty businessmen who are looking for a new and more exciting form of gambling where actual human lives are at stake.
- District 13 (Banlieue 13) The founder of parkour, David Belle, plays the lead role for the first time in this French action film released in 2004. District 13 is based in the ghettos of Paris, France, that are beset with social problems and run over by gangs.
- Jump London. It’s a trip across London like no other. This documentary, first broadcast by Channel 4 in 2003, was meant to introduce parkour to the English-speaking world and captured the imagination of the audience instantly.
- Yamakasi. The founding group of parkour, including Belle, Foucan, Châu Belle Dinh, Williams Belle, Yann Hnautra, Laurent Piemontesi, Guylain N'Guba Boyeke, Malik Diouf, and Charles Perriére—later came to be known as Yamakasi.
- Tracers. Traceur or tracer is, technically, a person who practices parkour. The 2015 film Tracer is about how lead character, Cam (played by Taylor Lautner) becomes enamoured by parkour.
