Peter Michael Tong MBE (born 30 July 1960) is an English disc jockey who works for BBC Radio 1. [1] He is the host of programmes such as Essential Mix and Essential Selection on the radio service, which can be heard through Internet radio streams, for his record label FFRR Records [2] and for his own performances at nightclubs and music festivals.

- What was the first album or piece of music you bought for yourself, and what was the medium? The Slider by T. Rex was the first album I ever bought, on vinyl obviously because it was a long time ago.
- What did your parents do for living when you were a kid, and what do they think of what you do for a living now? My dad was a turf accountant, which is basically a book maker.
- What is the first thing you bought for yourself when you started making money as a DJ? Better DJ equipment. I put everything back into the business, so I got bigger speakers and a bigger amp and a really sexy set of turntables, because it was all about mobile DJing back then.
