Clara of Brunswick. Philip II, Duke of Pomerania-Stettin (29 July 1573 – 3 February 1618) was from 1606 to 1618 the reigning duke of Pomerania -Stettin and is considered to be among of the most artistic of the Pomeranian dukes. He married Sophia of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg in 1607.

In 17th century duke Philip II decided to build fifth wing, the so-called Museum wing. The last Pomeranian duke was Boguslaw XIV (1580-1637). The Westwal’s Treaty (1648) divided the duchy into two parts where western part with Szczecin fell to Swedes.
