"Visiting Day" is Episode 1 in Season 20. It originally aired on December 15, 2004.

LeVar mentions how sometimes families are split apart. While common reasons for this are divorce or death, another reason for a separation in the family is because a parent has made a bad choice and has gone to prison for it. And when one is in there, the only way the family can be with them, is to visit them there, which itself is only allowed on some days. And a prison sentence not only has an effect on the parent who's stuck on the inside, but also on the family who's on the outside. With that, he reads the title book.

Most of the episode focuses on the Gooden family, whose father has been in Sing Sing Prison for about eight years. It includes their struggles without him, the conditions in Sing Sing Prison, the reason he went there, and the highs and lows of a visiting day for them, including the details of a recent visit. The episode ends with LeVar mentioning that the father will soon be released, and his family will experience further changes and challenges when he returns home, including the stigmatism of having an ex-convict in the home. But a listening ear will help them get through it.
