Richard was raised in Mississauga by his mother Cynde Harmon who is a film producer, and his father Allan Harmon who is a film director; he has one sister, Jessica Harmonwho has also become an actress. Richard grew up surrounded by movies and TV series, and became interested in the film industry around the age of five when he started watching shows on TV, while also often keeping his parents company on the set of the movies they were working on.
