He was immortalized in the tales of Robin Hood and in countless legends, and centuries later in the novel Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott.
Transcript. Richard the Lionheart is undoubtedly one of England's most famous kings. While he only actually sat on the English throne for a decade, he is still remembered today, no doubt due in large part to his illustrious epithet, Lionheart. After his father's death in 1189, Richard ascends the throne at the age of 32.
