Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York (17 August 1473 – c. 1483), was the sixth child and second son of King Edward IV of England and Elizabeth Woodville, born in Shrewsbury. Perkin Warbeck (c. 1474 – 23 November 1499) was a pretender to the English throne claiming to be Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York, who was the second son of Edward IV and one of the so-called "Princes in the Tower".

- He was the second of two pretenders in Henry VII’s reign. Henry VII had already been challenged by a previous pretender in 1487: Lambert Simnel, who claimed to be Edward Plantagenet.
- Warbeck claimed to be Richard, Duke of York. Richard was one of the nephews of Richard III and one of the two ‘Princes in the Tower’ who had mysteriously disappeared during the previous decade.
