Perkin Warbeck (c. 1474 – 23 November 1499) was a pretender to the English throne claiming to be Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York, who was the second son of Edward IV and one of the so-called "Princes in the Tower".
RICHARD, DUKE OF YORK (c.1410-1460), was the son of Richard, Earl of Cambridge, by Anne, daughter of Roger, Earl of March. [see Richard's Genealogy] In 1425 he was relieved from the effects of his father's attainder, and succeeded to the estates and titles of his uncles, Edward, Duke of York, and Edmund, Earl of March.
Richard of Shrewsbury, born in Shrewsbury, was the sixth child and second son of King Edward IV of England and Elizabeth Woodville. He was created Duke of York in May 1474, Knight of the Garter in 1475, Earl of Nottingham in 1476, and Duke of Norfolk and Earl Warenne in 1477.
Sep 1, 2021 · RICHARD, Duke of York (1472–1483), second son of Edward IV by his queen, Elizabeth Woodville, was born at Shrewsbury on 17 Aug. 1472 (Gent. Mag. January 1831, p. 25). He was created Duke of York on 28 May 1474, and on 15 May 1475 he was made a knight of the Garter (Anstis, Order of the Garter, ii. 194).

Richard and his older brother, who briefly reigned as King Edward V of England, mysteriously disappeared shortly after their uncle Richard III became king in 1483.
