Roddy Radiation (born Roderick James Byers, 5 May 1955) is an English musician who played lead guitar for The Specials, as well as many rockabilly bands such as the Bonediggers and the Tearjerkers. He wrote the Specials favourites "Concrete Jungle", "Rat Race" and "Hey, Little Rich Girl", later covered by Amy Winehouse.
The Specials’ recording career came to a violent end when the ska-punk wizards' guitarist, Roddy “Radiation” Byers, was unable to play the haunting chords in their swansong hit Ghost Town, according to band founder Jerry Dammers.MOJO 258, with Blur cover, available in the UK from Tuesday, March 31.
