MEANS, RUSSELL (Nov 10, 1938 - Oct 22, 2012) was an Oglala Sioux activist, writer, and actor, who founded the CLEVELAND AMERICAN INDIAN CENTER and was a central figure in the American Indian Movement. Means spent his early childhood near the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and was one of five children.
