McDevitt, Ruth (1895–1976) American stage and screen character actress. Born Ruth Shoecraft, Sept 13, 1895, in Coldwater, Michigan; died May 27, 1976, in Hollywood, CA; m. Patrick John McDevitt (died 1936).
McDevitt's entree into weekly television was on the classic early-1950s Wally Cox sitcom Mr. Peepers, in which she played Wally's mom. Her next series stint was as rifle-wielding Grandma Hanks in the short-lived 1967 western comedy Pistols and Petticoats.
