  6. Google Nest Thermostat Error E294. Thermostat. I replaced my Honeywell RTH6580WF1001 with a Nest G4CVZ Thermostat and I receive a E294 error which is (E294 R wire is required). As you can see in the photos the R wire is connected, I’ve cut and restriped and reconnected all the wires a couple of times with the same error each time.
