  2. The Savannah Historic District is a large urban U.S. historic district that roughly corresponds to the pre– Civil War city limits of Savannah, Georgia. The area was declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1966, [1] [3] and is one of the largest urban, community-wide historic preservation districts in the United States. [4]

  3. Sometimes people are surprised to learn that Savannah’s Historic District only covers 2.031 square miles! It’s very small and walkable, so you don’t need a car to explore it. The entire area is laid out in a grid pattern, which is broken up every few blocks by small parks known as “squares”. The squares are beautiful!
