To me, this is the best screen version of Sense and Sensibility. The actor's are closer to the character's ages, and the men are more likable and more manly. Hattie Morahan gives a finely nuanced performance; in fact, all the performances are better than in Emma Thompson's film. (Which btw, is a good movie in itself.)
Sense and Sensibility shows how women in upper-class Georgian England, though privileged, had relatively few choices in life. The beautiful, humorous movie creates a buzz of excitement around the Dashwood sisters' romantic intrigue.

"Sense and Sensibility" is an enjoyable film, and yet it left me somehow unsatisfied. I liked the wit, I liked the charm of the actors, I enjoyed the way that Rickman chewed his role as if he wanted to make it last, and the tension when Grant's Edward is made to suffer - particularly since he appears to be a cad only because he has tried to do the right thing.
