Max Tracey (Leslie Howard) is an affable head waiter at an exclusive London hotel. While working, he falls in love with Sylvia Robertson (Elizabeth Allan), a beautiful woman of wealth. When Sylvia leaves the hotel for a skiing trip in Austria, Max follows her, and, with the help of a monarch (George Grossmith), poses as an Austrian prince.
