Shell Falls is a waterfall in the Bighorn National Forest on Shell Creek, about halfway down Shell Canyon, and a few miles upstream from the town of Shell in northeast Wyoming. The falls are 120 feet (37 meters) in height and tumble over basement rock of granite.
Shell Falls was a gushing waterfall seemingly set in an arid area where the presence of the powerful Shell Creek fed this rather miraculous waterfall. Loaded with viewpoints and hiking trails along the way, the Bighorn Scenic Byway is a 57-mile scenic drive that carves its way through the mountains of Bighorn National Forest. The byway runs between Shell and Dayton, Wyoming along US Highway 14. This route is open between May and September.
