  6. Biography. Johannes Sigfrid Edström was born on 21 November 1870, in Morlanda, about 40 miles (65 km.) north of Göteborg, Sweden. He had a relatively short but important reign as the 4th President of the IOC. From 1891-1893, Edström received his education in Göteborg and also in the United States and Zürich, Switzerland as a civil engineer.
