Silliman College is a residential college at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, named for scientist and Yale professor Benjamin Silliman. It opened in September 1940 as the last of the original ten residential colleges, and contains buildings constructed as early as 1901.

The site of Silliman College was the actual location where the Colony was incorporated in 1639 and it became part of the City’s nine-square plan. Yale’s presence at the site can be traced to 1847, when it established the Sheffield Scientific School.
Programs. College Seminars. Each of the residential colleges sponsors seminars taught by regular faculty members or by distinguished guests. College seminars carry regular course credit in Yale College. Recent Silliman College Seminars have included “Race and Gender in Policing and Criminal Justice” and “Bioenergy,” to name a few.
Silliman University (also referred to as Silliman or SU) is a private research university in Dumaguete, Philippines. Established in 1901 as Silliman Institute by the Presbyterian Board of Foreign Missions, it is the first American and Protestant founded institution of higher learning in the Philippines.
