    • I Hear a New World – Joe Meek. Year of release: 1960. Label: Lansdowne Studios. Surprisingly enough, weird, spacey experimental rock took firm root in Germany, where it sprouted into a number of bands which would later serve as one of the main inspirations for the equally weird but more pop-oriented Krautrock.
    • Nektar – Journey to the Centre of the Eye. Year of release: 1971. Label: Bacillus. Throughout the '70s, the UK-based, German-born band Nektar dropped a number of releases that would cement their place as one of the country's progressive rock giants, even though their reputation never surpassed that of Pink Floyd.
  6. Psychedelic/Space Rock definition. Psychedelic Progressive Rock. Progressive rock music has its roots in the mid 1960's psychedelic cultural phenomena. During that time the British Invasion and folk-rock bands began to expand the sonic possibilities of their music.
