Apr 17, 2024 · On 26 June 1941, Flight Lieutenant Nettleton joined No. 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. This squadron was the first to completely convert to the Avro Lancaster, with the first “Lanc” arriving on Christmas Eve, 24 December 1941. Flight Lieutenant Nettleton was promoted to Acting Squadron Leader, 17 July 1941.
