Star Trek: Insurrection is the second Star Trek film to be directed by Jonathan Frakes. Jonathan Frakes appeared as Commander William Riker, and as with First Contact he directed the project. Brent Spiner starred as Lieutenant Commander Data, asking for the character to be killed in Insurrection out of concern for aging out of the role.
